Norma(l) Production Design WIP

Over the course of the semester, my friend and I basically worked as a team on each others' projects. We sanded and painted a ton of furniture bright yellow for her film, Norma(l) first.

Production Design Development

This past semester, I took a production design class. It is a new addition to the curriculum and is actually a sophomore class now, but my friend and I were allowed to take it as a sort of independent study. We basically worked on all the production design for the films that we were making. We did a lot of stuff in this class so I'm going to break it up into several posts. I'll start with development. I did a ton planning and development for the production design in my film because it was fairly extensive. I started with some visual spreads for the feel of each space.

I then started coming up with an actual design of the dressing room, which we then based our ideas off of.

Maddock the Magnificent Costume Design

For my final project in costume design, I did another design for the costumes in my junior project. This is the Phillusionist- I wanted him to be a bit more modern than Maddock, but still have a touch of magic. I really liked the idea of his costume having mainly black, white, and red. I started with a sketch and then went to a final digital version. Now that the semester is over, I have a photo of the final costume which ended up being a little bit different, but still pretty similar!

Classic Modern Interior

I ended up taking a history of interior design class this semester (mainly because it was my only option, but I digress). For our final project, we had to design a modern interior while incorporating elements of a classic style. I absolutely love Victorian design so I decided to do a modern Victorian interior. We had to write a paper explaining all of our choices, but I'll just leave you with the fun part.

Fortune Teller Costume

One of my favorite projects that I did last semester was designing and making a fortune teller costume in my costume design class. I worked with one of my friends (we're kind of a PD team) and we decided to create a costume based on one of the characters in my thesis screenplay. We took a bunch of really cool photos, both in a set that we designed and also outside. It was a ton of fun and I am really happy with the result! Here are some of the photos featuring my friend Jo who made the costume with me!

Stop Motion Project

Well. Here we are friends. Three weeks after the end of the semester of junior year and I'm ready to try to post everything on here. I haven't updated in a long time though so it's going to be a lot to get through. I'll start with updating everything from last semester that I never posted. Here we go.

I've previously posted a video that I made in my documentary and experimental video class, but that was actually the second project that we did. Our first project was experimenting with stop motion, slow motion, or timelapse. I decided to create a stop motion about the rivalry between a wallet and a piggy bank. Here it is!
