Final Directing Project
This was actually from last semester and I never finished editing it until now, yay! So here it is. It also ended up winning best sophomore film in the Ringling film awards which is really cool! Big thanks to a great crew and actors.
Hi there,my name is Anna and I'm a junior in high school. So I was wondering about what it's really like going to Ringling college for film. I've watched some of your videos and a lot of videos on Ringling and they all seem really good. However it doesn't really seem like the school focuses on film. I like that the school makes students take drawing classes and gives them a little bit of knowledge about different types of jobs. However I would like to spend a lot of time working on my major. So basically what I want to ask is.. do you believe that Ringling is a good college for film? Or do you believe that Ringling really focuses on film? (This is super long I'm so sorry xD)
Hey Anna, it's awesome that you want to go for film! In short, yes I definitely think Ringling is a great school for film. First semester of freshman year is the only semester that you don't have any classes relating to film (and I think that's changed since I was a freshman). I was really frustrated that semester because I wanted to focus on film, but the first semester is foundational and gives you a taste of all sorts of arts. Second semester, you start film production though- we each made 5 films in groups of 5 so we worked on 25 different films that semester. Also as an underclassmen, you have the opportunity to work on junior and senior sets, which is awesome! Ringling really is focused on film even if it doesn't seem like it the first semester. I just finished junior year, which was basically an entire year of being on set and working on films! If you are interested, you can watch the video I recently uploaded about junior year, it should give you a better idea- https://youtu.be/sgDFHlPT0zI
